a new beast

I have been working on a new beast.  He has a sort-of tree to the left.  The piece of fabric I used was too broad for the space, so I folded it lengthwise and used a herringbone stitch to hold it down.  I did a lot of stitching on the tree--need to get to the beast.

Some new pieces

I am working in Pamela Allen's class, About Town, where we will make a quilt representing our place, mine being St. Louis, MO.  We first made 4 small pieces, not quilted, representing buildings here.  I did four, and one of them was based on US Grant's Cabin.  Kind of crazy?

I am also going to the Missouri Fabric Artist's retreat.  I joined this group before Christmas, and I am sort of feeling that I am out of the water.  A recent message from the retreat master stated that we should all bring something for a silent auction.  Oh my--well I had a couple of small pieced things using up some of my favorite color, Indigo, and some bits and pieces of what I thought were unique.  I hand quilted them, and the dragon's house piece was quilted by hand using machine metallic thread.  I hope one of these will be ok.

I'm not sure of the name of the bottom one, now called Puzzle Box.  I have thought of Hidden Gems, but right now it is Puzzle Box. Rosemary

Sean's quilt top

I have put the robots together with some black and white fabric.  I am planning to use the dark blue for the border.  It may have to wait a while, as I am about to start a new class with Pamela Allen.

Rosie's comforter

I have made several comforters, in the vain attempt to use up my scraps.  Most of them are blue and green, reflecting my color choices.  They are very addictive--I can't seem to stop piecing them once I have started.  They are kind of crazy quilt style. I made 2 for my 8 year old twin granddaughters, but both reside in Caroline's room, as Rosie likes pink, and the comforters are basically blue.Off the Wall Fridays So I decided to make her a pink-lavender-lime green one.  The heart is something I made in Jude Hill's class.  It has hung over my sewing  machine, but I thought that Rosie's comforter would be a better place for it.
I have included a picture of one of the blue green ones. Off the Wall Fridays

Sean's quilt

Off the Wall FridaysI have put the blocks together.  I decided on a black and white print.  I have a dark blue print with different sized boxed for the border, but I don't have it attached yet.

Sean and his quilt

The blocks are finally finished.  I'm now off to the quilt store to buy setting, border, and backing fabric.  I think I will use a black and white print for the sashing, and cornerstones cut from some of the fabrics used in the robots.  Here also is a picture of Sean, the robot quilt recipient  in his dragon Halloween costume. I will hand quilt the robots. Off the Wall Fridays
