I worked on this piece in a Pamela Allen class. Before it was quilted I didn't care for it, but I decided to see what quilting could add, and the quilting changed my mind.
The piece was an exercise in black and white, with just a little bit of color. I used embroidery floss to quilt it. The white Asian style fabric at the top needed help. I used the colors from the circles on the rainbow to choose a single strand of floss and quilted along the lines of the pattern in the fabric. I added some French knots in the areas where the waves curled. I faced the piece, which I wouldn't do again, as there was a lot of bulk to deal with in the corners.Off the Wall Fridays

Quilting the robot quilt
I have completed quilting 9 of the robots--working on number 10 now. There are 12 all together, and a small border. Every time grandson Sean (2 years old) sees me he asks about
his robots. I'm hoping to have the quilt done in July.

shimmer challenge
One of the members of my art quilt group brought in the silver shingle-like fabric that she bought off the sale table at Joann's. We were challenged to make something with it. We recently had a retreat, and I brought the weaving, and a thermofax screen made from an instructor's manual for making hairdo's from about 1900. I decided to put the lady in a window. She has a rather pathetic looking knight approaching the tower. I'm not sure he can save her--he sort of reminds me of Barney Fife from the Andy Griffith Show.

A Strange Tree
I was at our art quilt retreat and one of the demos showed a tree, hills, and a ground. I was in a funky mood, so I made an orange tree with a beast. The sun is a flower from the leis that the party organizers passed out.

the finished beast
I finished sewing on the new beast. I decided not to put a face on the beast. I think he is comfortable just as he is.

The beast gets more stitching
I'm stitching on my beast. Need to stitch the beast itself. I have done background on the left side, and the blue moon. The rest of background and the flower/bush in the right corner await the needle.
